The progress of GTA VI development seems to be slowing down, as reported by gaming website Kotaku. According to anonymous sources, there is some uncertainty about the cause of the delay. Rockstar is considering the possibility of releasing GTA VI in 2026.

Kotaku's report indicates that Rockstar originally aimed for a spring 2025 release for GTA VI. However, other sources suggest a fall 2025 release date is more likely due to the development lagging behind. Potential factors contributing to the delay include security and quality concerns within the game's development process. The company is reportedly contemplating the idea of launching GTA VI in 2026 instead.

Earlier in 2023, Rockstar released the first teaser trailer for GTA VI, unveiling details about the game's setting in Vice City within the fictional state of Leonida. The protagonist, Lucia, is a female character embarking on missions in an open-world environment with various vehicles, locations, and action-packed scenarios, including (police) violence. The game is expected to be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles in 2025.
