Blizzard has made the surprising announcement that the highly anticipated Blizzcon trade fair will not be taking place in 2024. The developer has not provided a specific reason for the cancellation, but reassures fans that the gaming conference will make a return in the future.

In a recent blog post on their official website, Blizzard acknowledges that the decision to cancel Blizzcon was a difficult one. While the exact reasons behind the cancellation are not disclosed, the company is focusing on other events for its upcoming games. Exciting news includes the announcement of Diablo IV's first expansion, Vessel of Hatred, as well as special activities planned for the twentieth anniversary of Warcraft, both in-game and globally.

Despite the absence of Blizzcon, Blizzard confirms their presence at the upcoming Gamescom trade fair in August. Overwatch enthusiasts can look forward to attending Dreamhack Dallas and Dreamhack Stockholm, where the Overwatch Champions Series will be taking place.

Since its inception in 2005, Blizzcon has been a staple event for fans, held annually at the Anaheim Convention Center in California. The fair was canceled in 2020 due to the global pandemic, and an online version was hosted in 2021. In a more recent development, the event was canceled in 2022 following a high-profile sexual harassment case that led to Activision Blizzard settling for $54 million with the US state of California in December 2023.
