Microsoft is set to add several Call of Duty games to Xbox Game Pass, as confirmed by notifications received by users through the Xbox Game Pass app. It remains unclear whether older Call of Duty titles will also be included in Game Pass.
According to the notification, "Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be available on Game Pass later this year on day one!" Users across iOS and Android platforms received this notification, as reported by The Verge journalist Tom Warren on social media. However, the URL provided in the notification seems to be inactive, suggesting that it was sent prematurely.
Earlier in the month, The Wall Street Journal revealed that Microsoft had initially planned to announce this news on June 9th during their annual Xbox Showcase. Microsoft is expected to provide further details about Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 at the event. It is yet to be determined if this game will be part of the regular subscription or if users will need to pay extra to access it. Furthermore, it remains uncertain whether other Call of Duty titles will be added to Game Pass, or if only Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be included.
Additionally, the British Competition and Markets Authority previously stated in a report last year that Call of Duty titles would not be available on Game Pass until 2025. This report came after Microsoft's intention to acquire Activision Blizzard. The CMA's report required Microsoft to make certain concessions in light of the potential acquisition.
