BlackBasta, a hacker group, has released the stolen data of Belgian beer brewer Duvel Moortgat on the internet. The data reportedly consists of 1 terabyte of information, primarily comprising American data. Duvel has chosen not to provide any comments on the situation at this time.

Reportedly, the stolen information includes passport details of American employees of Duvel, as well as documents from the marketing and accounting departments of the company. The sensitivity of this information to the Belgian beer brewer is unclear, and it is unknown whether a ransom was paid to the hackers.

The leak was attributed to BlackBasta, a collective of hackers known for using ransomware to steal sensitive data from various entities. BlackBasta, along with another collective Stormous, claimed responsibility for the ransomware attack on Duvel Moortgat. According to Het Laatste Nieuws, both groups acquired the stolen data through a third party responsible for the actual cyberattack. Allegedly, BlackBasta and Stormous had a disagreement over who could use the data to extort the Belgian beer brewer.

Duvel Moortgat was targeted by a ransomware attack on March 6, 2023. Hackers gained access through Duvel's American subsidiary, Boulevard Brewing Company. In response, the Belgian company temporarily suspended production at its breweries and focused on resolving the issue using backup systems. Production resumed the following day.
