The Google Play Store has introduced the capability for multiple simultaneous downloads during app installations, as reported by 9to5Google. This update allows users to initiate two downloads concurrently, marking a departure from the previous limitation of one download at a time since the inception of the Play Store and its predecessor, the Android Market.
However, while this enhancement applies to new app installations, updates to existing apps still adhere to the sequential download process. Currently, updates are performed one at a time, with subsequent updates remaining in a 'pending' status until their turn arises.
The prospect of extending simultaneous downloads to updates, which are more frequent occurrences for users, remains uncertain, with no indication of when or if such functionality will be implemented.
