PC players of Helldivers 2 will need to link their Steam account to a PlayStation Network account by June 4 to continue playing the game. This requirement was previously optional due to technical issues.
A recent blog post on Steam from publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment states that new players must link their accounts starting May 6, with existing users needing to do so by May 30. After June 4, all players must have their accounts linked in order to access the game.
However, this poses a challenge for some players. PSN is not officially available in several countries, such as Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and most African countries. While it is possible to create an account in these regions, Sony's terms of service state that providing incorrect information could result in a ban.
The game developer notes that using a PSN account can help protect gamers, as individuals who violate rules may face banishment. Those who are banned can also appeal through the PSN network.
