Recent leaks have revealed some details about the upcoming Intel Core Ultra 200 processor line. According to the rumors, Intel is not planning to release a Core Ultra 3 processor, but instead, the Core Ultra 9 285 will receive a boost clock of 5.5GHz. Additionally, Intel Z890 motherboards will be getting support for Thunderbolt 4. Well-known leaker Golden Pig Upgrade has shared information about the Intel Core Ultra 200 processor line. According to VideoCardz on Weibo, the lineup will include at least three SKUs: Core Ultra 5 245K, Core Ultra 7 265K, and Core Ultra 9 285K. The Core Ultra 9 285K is said to have a boost clock frequency of 5.5GHz, slightly less than the 14th Gen i9-14900K which can go up to 6.0GHz.
The Intel Core Ultra 200 chips are reported to have a maximum of 4 Xe cores, which is lower than the laptops' Core Ultra 9 CPUs that can have up to 8 Xe computing cores. Golden Pig Upgrade also mentioned that some SKUs in the Core Ultra 200 line have two or three Xe cores, based on the Alchemist Xe-LPG architecture. The processors will feature Lion Cove P-cores with an expanded L2 cache of 3MB each, while the Skymont E-core cluster will have 3MB of L3 cache memory.
According to leaks from MebiuW on Weibo, the upcoming Intel Z890 motherboards will support Thunderbolt 4. These motherboards will utilize the new socket 1851 and are expected to be showcased at the Computex 2024 trade show in Taiwan next month. This news follows previous reports that Intel is renaming its upcoming Arrow Lake CPUs to Core Ultra 200, aligning with the new naming convention introduced with Meteor Lake. Additionally, Intel is rumored to be planning a refresh of its Raptor Lake-H laptop processors later this year as part of the Core 200H series.
It was announced last year that Intel will be changing its processor naming to the Core Ultra brand, with the Intel Core Ultra 200 processor line set to replace the fourteenth generation Intel chips later this year. The exact release date of these new CPUs from Intel is still unknown.
